Protect yourselfPortable Appliance Testing - commonly called PAT Testing - is a crucial task for practically all businesses. If you have any item of electrical equipment which any employee or member of the public (so staff and visitors to offices and shops, and even tenants in rented accommodation are all included) could be exposed to then you have a so-called 'Duty of Care' to ensure that such equipment is examined and tested where appropriate by a fully competent individual. To demonstrate that you have carried out your 'Duty of Care' you need to retain appropriate records of your equipment, and to be aware of your responsibilities towards the people around you. What happens if you just don't bother? Well, nothing - until the day that something goes wrong, when you may expect the Health and Safety Executive to take a very dim view of your reckless disregard for common safety (and no, they don't accept ignorance as an excuse!). Oh yes, and you'll probably find that your insurance is void, too... In short, you must arrange for PAT Testing to be carried out, and on a regular basis. It's a necessary piece of work, and without it you really do put your whole livelihood at risk. We offer PAT Testing by staff holding appropriate City & Guilds qualifications and will provide you with full supporting paperwork styled on H&SE accepted Institute of Electrical Engineers designs. We will carry out all appropriate tests (taking particular care of IT equipment), and will also repair and replace minor items as required. We don't test fixed electrical installations other than, if asked, confirming correct wall-socket polarities etc. Our charges are variable, but are between £4 - £7 per item tested (depending on quantity) plus VAT (subject to a minimum £50 call-out unless previously arranged). We are happy to offer our services on an out-of-hours basis in order to minimise any inconvenience to your business.
